North Port Troop 157
Hello! This is the North Port Boy-Scout Troop 157 website. This Troop is part of the BSA program that builds leadership, outdoor skills, and character. Our Troop has regular meetings during the school year on Mondays. We also have activities such as campouts or day trips about once a month. We as the older scouts try to help and become involved in the younger scouts’ growth while making progress with our own Boy Scout journey. At the end of the school year we go on a weeklong trip to a summer camp that we have raised money from fundraising throughout the year, it is jam packed full of bonding and fun.
Thank you! – Troop 157 Webmaster of 2024
Our adventures
Boy Scout Summer Camps are organized programs where Boy Scouts have the opportunity to engage on various outdoor activities and skill-building. It is not only a place for skill-building, but also for making long lasting memories and developing character.
scouting essentials
In Boy Scouts there are many needed materials to thrive in this program. One of which is the appropriate uniform, which is BSA shorts/pants, khaki shirt, a neckerchief, and a slide to go with it.
Anyone wishing to join Boy Scouts will need the uniform and the Scout Book (cover recommended). They will also need to apply for Boy Scouts at https://beascout.scouting.org.
There are also dues (we collect dues in the fall to support the troop and recharter fees we collect in the new year that go to National), Starting payment, and re-charter.
For adults who want to be active in the Troop, you will need to apply (complete and application that includes a background check), go through YPT training, and also pay dues (credited to scout account if adult’s active).

“Be Prepared… the meaning of the motto is that a Scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise.”
– Lord Robert Baden-Powell
“The Boy Scouts of America stands for a set of principles. These principles have a lot of staying power. The values you learn as a Scout are like a compass. They can help you find your way through difficult and sometimes unchartered terrain.”
– Bill Bradley
When a flashlight dims or quits working, you don’t throw it away, you change the batteries.
When a person messes up and finds themselves in a dark place, do you cast them aside? Of course not, you help them change their batteries! some need AA (Attention and Affection); some need AAA (Attention and Affection and Acceptance); some need D (Direction). And if they still don’t seem to shine, simply sit with them quietly and share your own light.
– Lessons Taught By LIFE
